May 6, 2024.—It is Spain’s most prestigious international competition in the industry, featuring more than 100 expert tasters from 28 countries and 1,900 wines tasted blind.
Odisea Roble, the red wine aged for 6 months by the Viver Cooperative, has won a gold medal at the 22nd International Wine Competition, Vermouths, and Wine-Based Spirits, presented as part of the 2024 Bacchus Awards. It is the only wine from Castellón to receive this recognition among all the award-winning entries in this category. Made from Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah grapes, Odisea Roble is a purely Mediterranean wine with refreshing minty notes; spicy hints from its time in the barrel, which give it a balsamic character; and earthy and iron-like nuances derived from the Rodeno soils. Organized by the Spanish Union of Wine Tasters (UEC), the Bacchus Awards are Spain’s premier international wine competition. More than a hundred leading global experts (Masters of Wine, Masters of Sommelier, winemakers, sommeliers, and specialized journalists) from 28 countries gathered at the Casino de Madrid for four intense days to taste the 1,900 wines from around the world entered in the competition. Bacchus is also the only international competition for wines, vermouths, and wine-based spirits in Spain that currently belongs to VINOFED, the federation that brings together the sector’s most prestigious international competitions, and it is the only one recognized by the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV), in addition to being endorsed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food (MAPA).
