“Wind on the Skin” Red Wine

The red wine “Viento sobre la piel” offers an elegant combination of juicy red fruits, spicy notes, and a subtle hint of minerality, with a smooth texture and balanced tannins that create a well-rounded and enveloping experience on the palate. It is made from grapes grown at an altitude of over 600 meters and aged for 4 months in French oak barrels.

Characteristics

Production

Viento sobre la piel is produced from vineyards planted on calcareous soils with a loamy-clay-sandy texture, which impart a distinct minerality to the wine. The grapes are harvested by hand into small 10-kg crates, with the best clusters carefully selected in the vineyard. About 20% of the grapes are crushed with the stems, while the rest are gently destemmed to keep the berries whole and undergo carbonic maceration, which enhances their aromas.

Fermentation takes place over about 10 days in stainless steel tanks, with gentle pumping over to achieve balanced extraction. Before the process is complete, the wine is pressed and racked to finish fermentation without the skins. Malolactic fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks.

The wine ages for approximately 4 months in French oak barrels, where it matures and gains complexity. Finally, after a stabilization and filtration process, it is bottled.

Tasting Notes for the Red Wine “Viento sobre La Piel”

A ruby-red red wine with medium depth. On the nose, it features a distinct Mediterranean profile with notes of lavender, thyme, pine, and subtle balsamic hints of menthol and eucalyptus. The fruit is very well balanced with the woody notes from its time in the barrel. On the palate, it offers medium body with a pronounced mineral character, thanks to the Rodeno soils. A wine with aging potential, best enjoyed from 2024 through 2034; it pairs perfectly with grilled meats, Mediterranean stews, and aged cheeses.
