June 17, 2024.—The Viver Cooperative has positioned its Syrah variety among Spain’s wines of excellence, according to the renowned Peñín Guide, an internationally recognized wine reference.
The Syrah from the Viver Cooperative, Wind on the Skin 2021, has earned 90 points and 5 stars for value in the 2024 tasting of the Peñín Guide, the world’s most comprehensive Spanish wine guide.
It thus improves on the score it received in the previous edition, where it earned 89 points, placing it in the excellence category for domestic wines, in addition to the 5 stars awarded, which represent the highest rating for value for money.
Wind on the Skin It is a Mediterranean wine made from Syrah grapes grown at an altitude of more than 600 meters above sea level, in what are the highest vineyards in Castellón. The calcareous soil mixed with rodeno stone on which the vines grow imparts a unique touch of minerality and iron-like notes that are complemented by aromas of rosemary, rockrose, and thyme. Its brief four-month aging in oak barrels results in smoky and toasty notes on the palate that intertwine in perfect balance with the ripe fruit. A medium-bodied wine with fine tannins that will allow it to age gracefully.
